This category considers websites and other digital initiatives that have added value to a merchant's business since January 2016, whether through an online sales channel, or by increasing brand awareness.


Marketing Initiative of the Year

This category focuses on marketing initiatives that merchants have used to improve their customer numbers, brand awareness or sales figures.


Training Initiative of the Year

This award acknowledges the achievements of a merchant business, or a branch of a merchant business, in developing the knowledge-base of its staff, including the consequent benefits this has brought to the business.


Best Community Initiative by a Builders' Merchant

The judges will be looking for a merchant who has gone the extra mile to give back to their local community since January 2016.


Best Customer Service of the Year

The judges will be looking at builders’ merchants’ customer service initiatives, whether as part of the business overall or specific service agreements with particular customers.


Hard Landscaping Display of the Year

The design and construction of merchants' external hard landscaping displays are the focus of this category. The judges will examine the techniques employed to display hard landscaping products to their best advantage in order to boost sales and improve the customer experience.


Independent Builders’ Merchant of the Year (1-10 branches)

The judges will be looking for an independent builders’ merchant with between one and 10 branches that has most successfully developed and improved its business since January 2016.


Independent Builders’ Merchant of the Year (11-20 branches)

The judges will be looking for an independent builders’ merchant with between 11 and 20 branches that has most successfully developed and improved its business since January 2016.


Independent Builders' Merchant of the Year (21+ branches)

The judges will be looking for an independent builders’ merchant with 21 or more branches that has most successfully developed and improved its business since January 2016.


National Builders’ Merchant of the Year

The judges will be looking for the national merchant business - or a subsidiary brand of a national merchant - that has most successfully developed and improved its business since January 2016.


Tool Showroom of the Year

Nominations for Tool Showroom of the Year should include details of tool showrooms and displays that have been updated, created or re-designed since January 2016.


Timber Merchant of the Year

Judges will be looking for the timber merchant who has best grown and developed their showroom, service and product offering since January 2016.


Heating & Plumbing Merchant of the Year

This award celebrates the heating and plumbing merchant who has most successfully developed and marketed their business to the lightside sector since January 2016.


Showroom of the Year

Nominations for Showroom of the Year should include details of kitchen and/or bathroom showrooms updated, created or re-designed since January 2016.


Supplier of the Year

The judges will look for the supplier that has done the most to help and support their merchant customers since January 2016.


Trainee of the Year

This award acknowledges the achievements of a merchant business in developing its emerging talent.


Achiever of the Year

The judges will be looking for the person who, since January 2016, has worked tirelessly towards making a major improvement to their company’s business.


Branch Manager of the Year

The judges will be looking for an exceptional branch manager who has introduced new strategies and initiatives to boost their branch sales and/or reputation.


Lifetime Achievement Award

The judges will be looking for the person who, during their career, has made the greatest contribution to their business and to the merchant industry as a whole.
